India vs West Indies: Rohit Sharma and the Indian spinners lead India to a resounding victory in their 1000th One-Day International
India dominated the West Indies in the first ODI in a three-match series, winning by six wickets to commemorate their 1000th ODI in international cricket. India asserted their power over Kieron Pollard's West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, riding a quickfire 60 from captain Rohit Sharma and a spin-bowling masterclass from Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar.
India needed a performance like this to show that their 0-3 loss in South Africa earlier this month was an outlier. Under Rohit's leadership, the Men in Blue looked like a different team, as the star opener got off to a good start in his debut encounter as the team's full-time ODI skipper.
It was also India's senior men's national team's first win of 2022, following losses in the last two Tests and three One-Day Internationals earlier this year in South Africa.
WI - 176 (43.5)
