Rainfall, wintry showers, and dense fog are expected in these states: IMD

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, wet spells in the Western Himalayan region, as well as East and Northeast India, are expected to decrease significantly starting today (IMD). Today's forecast includes widespread to widespread rains, thunderstorms, lightning, and hailstorm over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, according to the Met Department.

During the next 24 hours, widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is predicted over northeast India, with isolated heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh. Under the influence of a feeble Western Disturbance, isolated to scattered light rainfall is highly possible throughout the Western Himalayan Region on February 6-7.

On February 8-9, scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall is extremely possible throughout the Western Himalayan region due to the effects of another Western Disturbance. On February 8-9, isolated light rain is likely in northern Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh.

During the next 24 hours, cold to severe cold day conditions are expected in several portions of Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and West Uttar Pradesh. During the next 2-3 days, dense to very dense fog is likely in scattered pockets over the plains of northwest India.

Throughout the next two days, dense to very dense fog is expected in various areas of Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, north Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh during the night and morning hours.

By February 5, the induced cyclonic circulation over north Haryana and its environs is expected to shift east-northeast away from northwest India, according to the MeT department.
