Vukomanovic says he wants to finish this madness and go home

Kerala Blasters will play Bengaluru FC at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Sunday in their comeback to the Indian Super League (ISL). But, while his team recovers from a Covid-19 outbreak, head coach Ivan Vukomanovic remarked on Saturday that he couldn't care less about the game.

The Blasters haven't played since a 2-0 win over Odisha FC on January 12 and have only recently resumed training, with Vukomanovic's quarantine only ending on Friday after a negative test. The Blasters' camp still has a number of positive cases, so they'll have to work hard to name 15 players for Sunday's game.

"We would have enough guys to play kabaddi — maybe seven or ten." We still have cases in camp and aren't ready to play football yet. But the performance must go on, and no one cares whether we are prepared or not," Vukomanovic remarked.

The Serbian coach expressed his displeasure with the ISL organisers for allowing them to play against Odisha. "We went into our final game knowing our opponents had positive cases, but they still told us we had to play," Vukomanovic stated.

"It all began the morning after the contest. On a daily basis, we were receiving more and more cases. After around 20 minutes, we decided to stop counting. We were promised a safe bubble, but it has not materialised "he stated "If you ask the players, they'll tell you they just want to get this crazy over with and go home," the coach added.

Blasters have slid to third from the top in the standings due to their lack of action, while their opponents Bengaluru are on the rise. With a win on Sunday, the Blues can tie the Blasters for 20 points, despite having played two games more.

"After the 3-0 victory over Chennaiyin FC, the team is in a fantastic mood. We are second in terms of goals scored, which is encouraging for our morale. We have a very talented team, and we have a good chance of winning this game if we play our brand of football "Bengaluru's head coach, Marco Pezzaiuoli, admitted as much.
