The army team tasked with rescuing Babu, a young man trapped in Malampuzha's Cherad hills, is only 200 metres away from him. The army's experienced mountaineers have been working on the rescue effort since Tuesday midnight. Babu, according to reports, responded to army calls. However, the rescue squad was unable to provide food or water. Babu has been stranded for nearly 40 hours in a crevice on a high slope.

The district collector was informed that a team from the Coast Guard will be on the scene in a helicopter to assist in the rescue attempt.

Babu could be rescued by 11 a.m., according to the local officials. By 9 a.m., a Coast Guard helicopter will be dispatched.

The army squad is attempting to reach out to the youth with food and drink. The army squad is hoping to get close to Babu soon. Meanwhile, the rescue mission will be joined by a third squad of NDRF and forest watchers. The rescue crew is also accompanied by a three-person medical team.

The joint rescue operation is being conducted out well, according to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. This is the first time in Kerala that such a rescue mission has taken place.

On Tuesday night, an army squad comprised of mountaineers arrived in Cherad Hills to carry out the rescue mission. They ascended the slopes, unconcerned by the night. The rescue mission is being carried out by a team from Bengaluru and a team from Willingdon Island commanded by Lt.Col Hemanth Raj. Hemanth Raj, according to reports, communicated with Babu.

Babu, who was trekking along Malampuzha on Monday afternoon, became caught on the slopes after slipping and falling into a gap. Despite efforts to rescue him using a helicopter, the mission was unsuccessful. Members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Fire Department conducted the rescue operation throughout the night.

Babu and his two buddies left on Monday afternoon to explore the Koormbachi highlands. Despite the fact that his companions abandoned the excursion in the middle, Babu continued to climb the heights. He became trapped in a crack around half a kilometre from the summit of the hill, according to accounts. From the top or bottom of the hill, it's difficult to see him. Babu talked to his family on the phone until 7.30 p.m. on Monday. His phone, however, remained inaccessible later.

Despite the fact that the fire department began the rescue operation on Monday night, the job was hampered by darkness. Around 12 p.m. on Tuesday, an NDRF team ascended the hills to save the youth. The NDRF squad was unable to save him even after reaching the top of the hills.

A Coast Guard helicopter was dispatched for rescue at 3 p.m. However, the expedition was cancelled since there was no place near Babu where the chopper could land. Using a drone, officials attempted to deliver coconut water to the youth. However, the drone crashed in the middle of the flight.
