In Jharkhand, two CoBRA jawans were injured in an IED blast | Hot News

Two CoBRA jawans were seriously injured in an IED blast in Jharkhand's Lohardaga area on Friday, according to a police officer. They were flown to Ranchi.

When a joint force of the CRPF — of which CoBRA is a special operations unit and the Jharkhand Police were involved in an operation against Maoists in the extremist-hit Bulbul-Peshrar area, the blast occurred.

"During an anti-extremist drive in the Bulbul-Peshrar area, CoBRA jawans Dileep Kumar and Narayan Das were injured in an IED blast," Rishi Kumar, Officer-in-Charge, Peshrar Police Station, said PTI.

He claimed the jawans, who were both in their 40s, were airlifted to Ranchi in a chopper.

Extremist activities have reportedly escalated in the region in recent months, according to locals. Some of them also admitted to having lived in fear.

According to Kumar, a search effort was underway in the district to apprehend the insurgents.
