In Thrissur, an elephant attack killed a five-year-old girl, while her father and grandfather were injured

On Monday, a wild elephant killed a five-year-old girl in Kannankuzhy, near Athirappilly. Agneemiya, daughter of Mala native Nikhil, was identified as the deceased.

Nikhil and his father-in-law, Jayan, were also hurt in the attack. They were taken to St James' Hospital in Chalakkudy.

The family was paying a visit to a relative. When the elephant attacked them, they were on the lawn of the house. When the girl was fleeing, it was trampled. While attempting to save the child, her father and grandfather were injured.

The elephant was eventually chased away by the locals.
