Kerala reports 54,537 new cases of Covid-19, including 352 deaths

The number of Covid-19 cases in Kerala has continued to increase, with the state reporting 54,537 new instances on Friday, bringing the total number of cases to 58,81,133. The health department recorded 352 deaths, bringing the total number of deaths to 52,786.



94 people have died in the previous three days, while 258 have been categorized as Covid-19 deaths after receiving appeals based on the Centre's new standards and the Supreme Court's directives.


Yesterday, the state reported 51,739 new Covid-19 cases, while Kerala had 55,475 cases on Tuesday, the greatest single-day increase in the virus since the pandemic began in 2020.


Ernakulam had the greatest number of cases today, with 10,571, followed by Thiruvananthapuram with 6,735 and Thrissur with 6,082.


In the last 24 hours, 1,15,898 samples were analyzed, according to the health department.

"There are currently 3,33,447 active Covid-19 cases in the state, with 3.5 percent admitted to various hospitals," the state's health department said in a statement.

Meanwhile, 30,225 people recovered from the condition, bringing the total number of people who have been treated to 54,94,185.
