Weekend Rains are expected in Tamil Nadu and Kerala; And Dense fog blanketing Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi




On Saturday, a trough will form across southern sections of South India, with northeasterly winds from the Bay of Bengal bringing humidity to the region. Heavy rain is expected in isolated areas of Tamil Nadu's south coast. In the next 24 hours, scattered rains, thunderstorms, and lightning are extremely likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Kerala, while heavy rains may lash isolated areas of south coastal Tamil Nadu.


During the next 24 hours, a trough in the westerlies will bring isolated to scattered light/moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning to Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Showers will be scattered to widespread throughout the Northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya over the next 24 hours.


Moreover, for the next 24 hours, severe winds (speeds of 25-35 kmph) will dominate across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and West Uttar Pradesh.


Over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad on February 13-15, and over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on February 15, a fresh weak western disturbance will bring isolated to scattered light rainfall/snowfall.


From February 17 to 20, another western disturbance will bring scattered to widespread light rain/snowfall to the Western Himalayan region, as well as light isolated to scattered rain to the plains of northwest India.


Meanwhile, isolated pockets of Madhya Pradesh are expected to experience frigid days and cold waves during the next 24 hours.
